Cuban president calls for agriculture balance

According to Cuba's president Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, it is considered important to increase potato production, replace imports, achieve increases in yields. The 2018-2019 production year plan was fulfilled, but insufficient and does not cover the demand.

It requires the increase of the production of chickpeas, to replace imports, varieties and seeds of national production. It is essential to increase the production of pork to recover production levels from the national production of food, employment of Palmiche (product of the Royal Palm of Cuba), and others.

Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, in the recent annual balance meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture referred to the improvement of the collection system (Acopio) and the role that this entity has to play in collecting as much production as possible. With this, he said, intermediaries and speculation are avoided.
